Oscars season has come and gone. It certainly wasn’t my favorite year, but there were some gems!
Shout-out to Jojo Rabbit, one of my new favorite movies of all time ???
My absolute favorite film genre is horror. It’s the genre that doesn’t get much love during awards season.
The very short list of Oscar-winning horror films includes ‘The Silence of the Lambs,’ ‘Jaws,’ ‘Misery,’ and ‘Rosemary’s Baby.’ #tannisroot
Growing up, my mom always told me stories about the scariest movie of all time – The Exorcist. Stories of people who fainted in the theater, some who puked, and others who ended up in therapy after watching it!
Suffice it to say, I was compelled ?
My mom had a pretty strict ‘no R-rated movies’ rule, so it wasn’t until high school that I finally got the chance to scare the bejesus out of myself.
Like all 90’s children, I went over to Blockbuster (RIP) with my best friend each week and asked the cinephiles who worked there for their favorite scary movie recommendations. ??
We didn’t want to jump into watching The Exorcist right away. Instead, we built some backbone by watching all the other movies on the various “scariest of all time” lists.
My recommendation this week is in honor of all those great movies that stole precious hours of sleep from me during my youth.
